Neck Lift / Neck Liposuction
Neck Lift / Neck Liposuction
Although no skin is removed, neck liposuction often results in a considerable tightening of the skin. The ideal candidate is a younger man or woman with fullness of the neck and poor definition of their jawline. A small incision is made behind each ear and underneath the chin. The neck is suctioned using a very small cannula.
Discomfort is usually mild. A garment has to be worn for several weeks after the liposuction. There may be some visible bruising and swelling for a couple of weeks afterwards. This procedure achieves a noticeable improvement with minimal downtime. Most patients can return to work within 3 days following their liposuction procedure, and return to the gym within a week.
Before & After
Neck Lift (Lower Rhytidectomy)
Often the neck liposuction is combined with a minimally invasive neck lift. A neck lift is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the jawline and neck. This allows treating a greater degree of skin laxity and the platysmal bands (vertical neck lines).
A slightly larger incision is made under the chin and the platysma muscle is sutured back together. Also ribbons may be used for additional support. A garment is then placed around your face and neck to minimize swelling and bruising when your procedure is completed and should be worn for about 6 weeks. The minimally invasive neck lift can still be performed in the office under local anesthesia.
